True Body Composition Assessment Methods
Skinfold Measurements: An assessment in which a tool is used to measure the thickness of the skin and the fat deposited underneath. The total amount of fat can be estimated by taking a series of measurements at different locations on the body.
Bioelectrical Impedance: This portable instrument sends a small electrical current through the body and back to determine the amount of total water. This value can be used to estimate percent body fatness because of the different conductivity of muscle and water as compared to fat.
You can schedule an appointment with our office to get your body composition assessment by either of these methods.
